T-Mobile is currently facing scrutiny regarding its advertising claims about free in-flight Wi-Fi, following a challenge initiated by Verizon. The National Advertising Division (NAD) has raised concerns about a statement on T-Mobile's website that compares its in-flight Wi-Fi service to Verizon's, suggesting that Verizon customers face a charge of $147.00 per month for similar services.
The NAD criticized T-Mobile for presenting the $147 figure as a standard cost for Verizon customers, stating it may lead to misinterpretations about Verizon's in-flight Wi-Fi offerings. T-Mobile, which recently earned recognition as the best mobile network for the latter half of 2025 by Ookla, claims that the figure reflects an estimate of costs for comparable Wi-Fi benefits.
The NAD has requested that T-Mobile either revise its advertising to accurately represent the benefits offered or cease its in-flight Wi-Fi claims entirely. Although the NAD lacks enforcement power, T-Mobile has committed to complying with the recommendations and will adjust its advertising accordingly.
