During the FIFA World Cup match on June 19, Seattle saw a remarkable surge in the use of shared bikes and scooters, achieving a record of 83,000 trips in a single day. This surpassed the previous record of over 60,000 trips set during a Super Bowl championship parade earlier this year, highlighting the increasing popularity of micromobility options in the city.
From June 15 to June 21, Lime reported that more than 300,000 trips were taken on its devices, marking its dominance as Seattle's exclusive provider of shared e-bikes and scooters. The company emphasized the essential role of these services during large events, with significant numbers of Lime vehicles strategically positioned around key areas like Pioneer Square and the waterfront.
To enhance safety and organization, Lime collaborated with the Seattle Department of Transportation, distributing free helmets and deploying teams for fleet management. They also introduced a Fan Pass for discounted rides, which will remain available until July 19. Lime's efforts underscore the effectiveness of micromobility in supporting urban transport during high-demand periods.
