The arrival of the Zen, a 289-foot superyacht valued at $200 million, captured the attention of Seattle residents on Tuesday evening as it navigated through the Ballard Locks. Owned by Chinese billionaire Wu Guangming, the vessel is notably smaller and less expensive than Mark Zuckerberg's superyacht, which is 100 feet longer and costs $100 million more.
Guided by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers personnel, the yacht displayed its Cayman Islands registration as it made its way into Puget Sound. Wu, who is known for founding Jiangsu Yuyue Medical Equipment and Supply, has a net worth of $2.6 billion, according to Forbes. Although it remains unclear if he was aboard during the journey, the ship is reported to be heading towards Alaska.
Matching crew members managed the yacht's lines and fenders, highlighting the operational scale involved. The superyacht, built in 2021 by Dutch shipbuilder Feadship, can accommodate 16 guests and 25 crew members.
