In a significant restructuring move, Starbucks will eliminate 252 corporate positions at its Seattle support center, including key roles such as vice presidents and senior managers. This decision follows a previous WARN notice regarding the reduction of 61 tech jobs in the same city.
The layoffs are part of an effort to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and reduce costs, according to a company spokesperson. The impacted positions include various functions such as finance, legal, brand management, and human resources.
The first job separations are set to begin on July 17, with all layoffs expected to be finalized by February 1, 2027. While no new store closures were announced, Starbucks is reducing its regional support presence in cities like Atlanta and Chicago, while maintaining offices in Seattle and New York, among others. Last year, the company cut nearly 2,000 corporate roles as part of ongoing adjustments.
