In a recent survey by ManpowerGroup, findings reveal that job security perceptions vary notably across different industries, particularly in Singapore. The survey, part of the Global Talent Barometer 2026, included responses from nearly 14,000 workers across 19 countries. While the overall unemployment rate in Singapore remains steady at approximately 3%, individual experiences of job stability differ significantly based on the sector of employment.
Among the participants, only 54% of Singaporean workers reported feeling secure in their roles for the upcoming six months. This contrasts with the global average of 64%. Interestingly, workers in the Communication Services sector expressed the greatest uncertainty regarding their job security. However, a substantial 90% of respondents indicated confidence in their ability to secure new employment within six months if necessary.
Job security perceptions also fluctuate based on the nature of the role, with lower-level employees showing greater confidence in retaining their positions compared to senior management. This trend suggests that while the stability of jobs may be in question, prospects for finding new opportunities remain strong, highlighting the need for adaptability among workers.
