Samsung is currently facing challenges with pricing strategies for its upcoming Galaxy S26 series, scheduled to launch in February. The company is also grappling with financial losses on the Galaxy Z TriFold, which has a production cost exceeding its selling price of approximately 3,594,000 won (about $2,500 USD).
A report from The Bell indicates that Samsung has not yet settled on a price for the Galaxy S26 series, complicating their launch plans. This uncertainty is attributed to rising memory costs, exacerbated by increased demand from AI markets, as well as the use of Snapdragon chips in the devices. Previously anticipated changes to the series, including a shift to a "Pro" base model and the removal of the "Plus" variant in favor of a S26 Edge, have been abandoned due to disappointing sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge.
During a recent launch event, Samsung's Lim Sung-taek acknowledged the pricing difficulties, emphasizing the company’s efforts to keep costs manageable despite various production challenges. As the February launch approaches, it remains to be seen how Samsung will navigate its pricing strategy amidst competitive pressures, particularly following Apple's decision to maintain prices for the iPhone 17 lineup.
