Starting April 10, Amazon will introduce a new subscription tier for its streaming service, Prime Video, named Prime Video Ultra. This plan will replace the current ad-free option, increasing its cost from $2.99 to $4.99 monthly for existing Prime members. While users will gain access to features like 5 concurrent streams and 100 offline downloads, the ability to stream in 4K/UHD will now be exclusive to this new tier.
Amazon's Prime membership, available for $14.99 per month, includes various benefits such as Prime Video and Amazon Music. Although standard users will see an increase in costs, they will also receive some enhancements, including support for Dolby Vision and an increase in concurrent streams and offline downloads.
According to Amazon, these changes are necessary to maintain premium features and align with other major streaming services. The company aims to provide customers with flexible viewing options while managing the costs associated with delivering ad-free content.
