The Miami Grand Prix marks the beginning of three U.S. races in the 2026 F1 season, with Apple increasing its involvement in the sport. Eddy Cue, Apple’s SVP of Services and Health, expressed optimism about a sequel to the acclaimed film F1: The Movie, which is confirmed to be in development by producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
During the event, Cue revealed Apple’s ambitions to enhance its global streaming rights for F1 races, highlighting the current limitations in licensing. He emphasized the significance of the U.S. market, stating, “Starting in the U.S. is definitely the right way to do it.” Cue's comments align with Apple’s broader strategy to expand its presence in motorsports.
Furthermore, Cue mentioned John Ternus, who is described as a passionate motorsport enthusiast and potential future CEO of Apple. Ternus, who participates in amateur racing and drives a Porsche, is said to be a greater fan of F1 than current CEO Tim Cook. Apple is also enhancing its presence at the Miami GP with features like a special 3D experience in Apple Maps.
Fans in the U.S. can tune in to watch the race on Apple TV, scheduled for Sunday, May 3, at 4 p.m. ET. The qualifying rounds will take place the day prior, at 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. ET.
