Artist KC Green, known for the iconic “This is fine” meme, has settled a dispute with the startup Artisan regarding the unauthorized use of his artwork. The conflict began when Artisan utilized a version of Green's character in advertisements for its AI assistant, Ava, featuring a slogan that altered his original phrase. The ads displayed Green's dog amid flames, saying “My pipeline is on fire,” which sparked Green's criticism on social media.
Earlier this month, Green expressed his dissatisfaction about the situation, claiming his work had been misappropriated and encouraging followers to take action against the ads. Meanwhile, Artisan acknowledged the controversy and expressed respect for Green’s contributions. Following discussions, Jaspar Carmichael-Jack, Artisan's CEO, announced that both parties had reached a resolution.
As part of the settlement, Artisan has agreed to remove the controversial ads in New York and San Francisco, and Green has retracted his earlier social media post regarding the issue. The swift resolution allows both sides to move forward without further legal entanglements.
