Over 100,000 automated ticket requests were blocked for the upcoming April 17 Humans Only Concert at the Midway, featuring St. Vincent and DJ Pee .Wee. The event, which requires attendees to verify their identity with a World ID, is a part of an initiative by Tools for Humanity, a company co-founded by Sam Altman.
Instead of continuing the trend of bots purchasing concert tickets, Jared Leto is promoting a new tool named Concert Kit. This online ticketing solution was launched last month and enables artists to reserve tickets for confirmed fans by utilizing an encrypted digital passport that scans irises and faces, proving their humanity.
Concert Kit aims to combat the issue of bots, which often buy tickets within seconds of release. Tiago Sada, chief product officer at Tools for Humanity, emphasized the importance of making tickets accessible at the original prices set by artists, rather than inflated by resellers.
This technology represents a growing effort to address challenges related to ticket scalping in the music industry, as both artists and fans seek fair access to live performances.
