A Delhi court has mandated that Apple must comply with the requests of India’s Competition Commission (CCI) in an ongoing antitrust case regarding the App Store. This decision comes as Apple sought to delay the proceedings, claiming the CCI had overstepped its authority in demanding the company's financial disclosures.
The CCI had set a deadline for Apple to provide its financial information and scheduled a final hearing for May 21. However, the court declined to grant Apple’s request to pause the case entirely, although it has prohibited the CCI from making a final ruling until the matter returns to court on July 15.
At the heart of the dispute is Apple’s contention with India's updated competition regulations, which potentially impose penalties based on global revenue, rather than just local earnings. The CCI has accused Apple of delaying tactics, while the court has allowed Apple to submit unspecified documents that may relate to its challenge of the legal framework surrounding antitrust penalties.
