With more than 300,000 attendees reported at their events in 2025, the Breakaway festival brand is reshaping the concert-going experience for younger audiences. Founded in 2016 by Adam Lynn and Zach Ruben, the festival aims to provide affordable access to music events, moving away from the high costs associated with major festivals like Coachella.
Breakaway targets mid-tier markets, offering tickets that start around $40 for students and range from $150 to $300 for more premium options. This pricing strategy contrasts sharply with the median ticket price for Taylor Swift's Eras concert, which exceeded $1,550 for a single day, excluding travel costs.
In a climate where 86% of surveyed Gen Z individuals reported overspending on live events, Breakaway's mission of accessibility is seen as a crucial response to the financial burdens of attending live music. The founders emphasize that their tickets are “affordable,” aiming to attract college students and young professionals who may be priced out of traditional concert experiences.
