Apple is making significant strides in its environmental efforts in India, announcing an investment of approximately $10.6 million aimed at enhancing renewable energy infrastructure. This initiative, in collaboration with CleanMax, a key player in renewable energy development, will facilitate the creation of over 150 megawatts of new energy capacity, enough to supply power to roughly 150,000 households annually.
In addition to renewable energy projects, Apple is partnering with WWF-India to improve recycling and waste management practices, aiming to prevent plastic pollution from impacting local ecosystems. This program will expand on existing efforts in Goa and extend to new locations such as Coimbatore, working alongside local communities and authorities.
Furthermore, Apple is broadening its collaboration with Acumen, enhancing support for social enterprises focused on clean energy solutions. The partnership will provide mentorship and resources to six green enterprises addressing challenges related to waste management and sustainable practices. This announcement is part of Apple’s ongoing commitment to environmental initiatives globally.
