Apple is facing a proposed settlement of $250 million over allegations of misleading advertising regarding iPhone features. The settlement, if approved by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, aims to compensate customers who purchased certain iPhone models marketed with advanced Siri capabilities that were not available at launch.
The agreement could benefit an estimated 37 million devices sold in the U.S. from June 10, 2024, to March 29, 2025, including all iPhone 16 models and the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Eligible consumers may receive a minimum of $25 per device, with potential payments increasing up to $95 based on the volume of claims submitted.
The lawsuit accused Apple of promoting a suite of "Apple Intelligence" features that were not available at the time of sale, misleading customers who believed they were purchasing devices with fully functional capabilities. Plaintiffs argued that they would have reconsidered their purchases or paid less had they known about the delayed features.
