In a notable class-action lawsuit settlement, Apple has agreed to pay $250 million, potentially providing affected iPhone owners with cash payments up to $95. This resolution stems from allegations that the company misled consumers regarding the capabilities of its AI features for Siri, particularly following the launch of the iPhone 16 in 2024.
The settlement, pending court approval, could become one of the largest in Apple's history, impacting approximately 37 million devices purchased in the U.S. between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Eligible models include the iPhone 16, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Consumers will be entitled to a minimum payment of $25, with the final amount contingent on the number of claims submitted.
Notification of the settlement will be sent via email or mail, directing customers to a dedicated claims website. The lawsuit highlighted that many consumers felt deceived by Apple's marketing, believing they were purchasing devices with features that were not yet available.
