In file transfer scenarios, TeraCopy can significantly outperform the default Windows 11 file transfer system, particularly with large data sets. When moving a 100 GB folder, TeraCopy maintained an average speed of approximately 45 MB/sec, while Windows peaked at 43 MB/sec but often experienced slowdowns, dropping to around 5 MB/sec.
For smaller transfers, the difference in speed is negligible; both systems averaged about 35 MB/sec while copying 3 GB of files. However, for larger transfers, even a small speed advantage can lead to significant time savings. For instance, transferring the 100 GB folder takes around 38 minutes with TeraCopy compared to about 40 minutes with Windows.
Additionally, TeraCopy offers enhanced reliability by pausing transfers when it detects errors, such as a disconnected drive, rather than canceling the entire process. This feature helps mitigate user errors, making TeraCopy a preferred choice for many users familiar with the challenges of file management on Windows.
