Apple is preparing to enhance the iPhone's Camera app with significant modifications in the upcoming iOS 27, as reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Users will have the ability to create a personalized interface by selecting which camera tools appear on-screen and their arrangement, including controls for flash, exposure, and resolution. This customization aims to improve the experience for users who utilize their iPhones for more than just casual photography.
The new features will allow users to toggle between familiar default controls and an advanced options set, which will be organized into categories such as basic, manual, and settings. Each capture mode will display its specific controls, referred to as "widgets" by Apple. Notably, the button for accessing all available controls will be relocated closer to the shutter button.
Additionally, a new Siri mode is expected to be integrated into the Camera app, leveraging Apple's Visual Intelligence capabilities to assist users in identifying objects and translating text. WWDC26, scheduled for June 8 to 12, will serve as the platform for Apple's announcement of iOS 27, with a special in-person event at Apple Park on June 8.
