The rollout of version 5.01 for the Google Health app introduces significant enhancements, featuring 16 updates and fixes aimed at optimizing the app's redesign. This update marks the first major version change following a series of smaller patch updates last month. While it is officially described as the “first of many improvements to come,” the update is not yet fully accessible on both Android and iOS platforms.
The improvements are categorized into four main areas. Under Nutrition, users can now view and log previously created custom foods, with the addition of new custom food creation expected soon. Guidance for setting macronutrient goals has also been added. Furthermore, third-party food log issues have been addressed, ensuring accurate meal type labeling from apps like MyFitnessPal and Cronometer.
In the Fitness and Activity section, workout labels have been corrected, and issues related to missing splits in run summaries have been resolved. Enhancements to map loading for GPS exercises and fixes for mobile step counting on iOS are also included. Sleep updates have improved the reliability of sleep score displays, while general updates have fixed various issues affecting the Today tab on Android and the account migration process for some iOS users.
