A new feature allowing users to change their Gmail addresses is reportedly being introduced by Google. This capability will enable Gmail users to replace their existing @gmail.com address with a new one while keeping their old address active as an alias.
The change was initially noted on a Google Pixel forum on Telegram and later covered by 9to5Google. Currently, the English version of Google's support page still maintains that changing @gmail.com addresses is not typically possible, a restriction that has applied only to non-gmail.com addresses until now.
Google has not yet issued an official statement about this feature. Users will be able to make the change through their account settings once it is fully rolled out. Instructions include navigating to Manage your Google account, then Personal info, followed by Google Account email. If the option is not visible, users will need to wait for the feature to become available.
