The superyacht Launchpad, belonging to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, has taken up residence in Port Gardner Bay, near Naval Station Everett, Washington, after departing from Seattle's Elliott Bay. The vessel was observed anchoring around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, drawing attention from onlookers and photographers, including Tim Davis from Kingston.
Since its arrival in the Pacific Northwest on May 27, the yacht has attracted both admirers and critics, with some labeling it a "grotesque display of wealth." The vessel's current position is speculated to be a precursor to a potential journey to Alaska, as indicated by MarineTraffic's information on its destination.
In Seattle, another vessel named Wingman, measuring 262 feet, remains docked at Smith Cove. The arrival of these yachts coincided with Meta's announcement of plans to reduce its workforce in Washington state by nearly 1,400 jobs, representing around 20% of its local employees.
