Waymo, a subsidiary of Alphabet, has expanded its autonomous vehicle services to five major cities in the United States, including Phoenix, San Francisco Bay Area, and Los Angeles. Users can now request rides through the Waymo app or by utilizing Uber's platform in Atlanta and Austin, enhancing accessibility for riders in these areas.
The company is planning to launch its services in additional locations, such as Dallas, Miami, and Washington, D.C., all slated for 2026. Other cities marked for future expansion include Denver, Detroit, and Las Vegas. Notably, Waymo is also set to make its first international debut in London in the same year.
Currently, Waymo's fleet primarily features white Jaguar I-Pace vehicles equipped with advanced sensors. The Waymo app has introduced new features, allowing users to adjust legroom and other cabin settings. Additionally, the app has been redesigned for a more streamlined experience, especially for iPhone users.
