Mikaela Kiner's latest publication, The Reverb Way: How to Build a Thriving Business Without Sacrificing It All, provides an in-depth look at her experiences running her Seattle-based HR consulting firm, Reverb. The book is a blend of memoir and leadership guide, focusing on the challenges Kiner faced as her business saw a significant decrease in client volume due to tech layoffs and economic instability.
Throughout her ten years in the industry, Kiner has realized the importance of balancing work with personal well-being. Amidst a backdrop of stress and insomnia, she reflects on the lessons learned while navigating a tumultuous business landscape. Her daughter’s observations of her stress further highlight the personal toll of entrepreneurship.
Before founding Reverb in 2015, Kiner accumulated 15 years of HR leadership experience at major companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Starbucks, often working extensive hours. This new book follows her previous work, Female Firebrands, published in 2020, and aims to offer practical insights on various aspects of business management, from hiring practices to maintaining productivity.
