Ricursive Intelligence has secured $300 million in funding, bringing its total investment to $335 million and valuing the company at $4 billion. The Series A funding round was announced on Monday and led by Lightspeed, just two months after the startup's initial seed investment from Sequoia.
Founded by former Google researchers, CEO Anna Goldie and CTO Azalia Mirhoseini, Ricursive aims to revolutionize AI chip design through a self-improving AI system. The technology is expected to develop its own silicon substrate layer, enhancing the speed and efficiency of AI chip advancements.
In addition to Lightspeed, other notable investors include DST Global, NVentures, Felicis Ventures, 49 Palms Ventures, and Radical AI. The startup's innovative approach builds on the founders' previous work with a reinforcement learning technique for chip layouts, known as AlphaChip, which has been integral to four generations of Google’s TPU chip.
