Cartesian Systems has developed an innovative inventory tracking solution using technology from MIT. The system utilizes wireless signals from RFID tags to pinpoint the exact location of items in retail environments, effectively addressing a significant challenge in inventory management.
Co-founder Fadel Adib highlighted that approximately 50% of retail workers' hours are dedicated to managing inventory, translating to a $15 billion issue in the United States. Research conducted last year demonstrated that Cartesian's platform can lead to substantial annual savings for retailers by streamlining inventory processes and enhancing customer service.
Currently, Cartesian's technology is operational in over 700 stores across 15 countries, including collaborations with major fashion retailer Inditex, which owns brands such as ZARA. The system aims not only to optimize inventory management but also to improve the overall shopping experience.
