The newly opened bar by Polymarket, named the Situation Room, faced significant operational issues during its launch on March 20, 2026. Initially touted for its numerous screens, the bar encountered technical difficulties that left all TVs inoperative, disappointing attendees who waited in the rain for over an hour.
Wired’s D.C. reporter Makena Kelly, present at the event, reported that power and Wi-Fi failures contributed to the setback. Staff indicated that the screens would be functional by Saturday, March 21. In a lighthearted response on social media, Polymarket acknowledged the mishap and shared a video suggesting that the screens were now operational.
Additionally, the launch drew attention from Global Situation Room, which issued a cease and desist letter to Polymarket, citing trademark conflicts over the "Situation Room" name. Despite the rocky start, Polymarket's staff remain optimistic about the bar's future operations.
