Ohm Health has initiated preorders for its innovative product, the "breathing lamp," priced at $249 for the first 2,000 orders, with a planned increase to $350 afterward. The Richmond-based health startup aims to achieve 5,000 preorders prior to a larger market launch next year, as confirmed by partner John Briney.
Founded by James McGoff, who previously co-founded TemperPack Technologies, Ohm Health's lamp assists users in practicing breathing techniques while monitoring various health metrics, including heart rate and perspiration. Users will interact with the lamp, which features a small riverstone rock that activates calming sounds and visual cues to guide breathing exercises.
As of December 18, more than 500 preorders have been received. The system also includes an optional free mobile app for those interested in tracking their biometrics, although the lamp can be used independently for accessibility.
