Starting April 15, students can access the Microsoft College Offer, which includes a bundle of services and discounted laptops, designed to compete with Apple's new MacBook Neo. This offer will be available until June 30, 2026, with the requirement to redeem the full bundle by July 31, 2026.
The package features a year-long subscription to Microsoft 365 Premium, valued at around $200, alongside a year of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, typically costing $30 per month for new subscribers. The offer also includes a free custom Xbox controller worth approximately $76.
Discounted laptops are part of the deal, such as the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3x available at Best Buy for $500, which is $250 off its regular price. Another option is the HP Omnibook 3 at Walmart for $429, a $270 discount from its usual $699 price. Retailers like Amazon and Best Buy also participate in the promotion, which Microsoft claims offers around $500 in value.
While the Microsoft College Offer may not match the straightforward appeal of Apple's pricing, it represents an effort to attract students in light of the competitive landscape for affordable laptops. Windows PC manufacturers are expected to respond more aggressively to the MacBook Neo in the coming year.
