Salesforce executive Ryan Aytay, who has served as CEO of Tableau since 2023, has announced his departure through a LinkedIn post. He expressed gratitude for his 19 years with the company, describing it as a valuable experience in innovation and leadership.
Aytay joined Salesforce in 2007 and became president of Tableau in 2022, following the company’s acquisition of the data visualization firm for $15.7 billion. His exit comes amid a significant shift at Salesforce, including the recent departure of Denise Dresser, former head of Slack, who is now at OpenAI.
Salesforce has seen a decline in its stock price, dropping over 14% in the past week, largely due to concerns regarding AI's impact on traditional software companies. Tableau's revenue growth also fell, reporting 4% in the latest quarter, down from 15% previously.
Aytay has promised to share details about his next opportunity soon, while he praised the future of Tableau and Salesforce in his farewell message.
