Frore Systems has successfully secured $143 million in a Series D funding round, achieving a valuation of $1.64 billion. This brings the total amount raised by the semiconductor startup to $340 million. The funding round was led by MVP Ventures, with participation from notable investors such as Fidelity, Mayfield, Addition, Qualcomm Ventures, and Alumni Ventures.
Founded by former Qualcomm engineers, Frore specializes in manufacturing liquid-cooling systems designed for semiconductors, rather than producing chips directly. The company's pivot towards chip cooling technologies was influenced by insights from Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who recognized the potential for liquid-cooling solutions in AI applications.
Frore's products are compatible with a range of Nvidia chips and boards, as well as offerings from Qualcomm and AMD. The AI semiconductor sector has become increasingly attractive to investors, with other emerging companies like Positron and Recursive Intelligence also achieving significant valuations recently.
