Pop star Dua Lipa has initiated a lawsuit against Samsung claiming $15 million in damages for unauthorized use of her image. The legal action alleges that the electronics company exploited her likeness on TV packaging without her consent, leading to allegations of copyright and trademark infringement, as well as commercial exploitation.
The complaint indicates that Lipa discovered the use of her face on Samsung's TV boxes around June 2025. Despite her requests for the company to cease this practice, her demands were reportedly met with a "dismissive and callous" response, with the products still available for purchase. According to her legal team, Samsung has profited from this unauthorized use, misleading consumers into believing Lipa endorsed the product.
Furthermore, the lawsuit emphasizes that Lipa holds the copyright for the photograph in question, which was taken during the Austin City Limits Festival in 2024. This case is not isolated, as Samsung has faced previous legal issues regarding its televisions, including accusations of using ad-targeting spyware.
