A report from Business Insider indicates that Disney is advancing a plan known as “Project Gemini”, which aims to phase out the Hulu app by integrating its content into Disney+. This transition is projected to be completed by the end of 2026, according to internal documents and sources within the company.
Previously, Disney had suggested that it would ultimately eliminate the Hulu app, although the company stated to Variety that there were “no current plans” to do so. The recent report contradicts this, revealing that the Hulu tech infrastructure will be retired following the successful migration of users.
As part of this integration, Disney+ has been gradually adopting features from Hulu, including the recent addition of a live TV guide and syncing options for watchlists and viewing history between the two platforms. The move reflects Disney's strategy to streamline its streaming services.
