Verizon is currently facing significant technical difficulties, affecting its wireless data and voice services. Reports indicate that at the peak of the outage, over 181,769 users experienced issues, as indicated by data from DownDetector. The outage began to escalate around 12 PM ET, with major cities like Boston, New York, and Washington D.C. reporting the highest number of complaints.
Customers have reported seeing “SOS” on their devices instead of network bars, while text messaging appears to be functioning normally for some. Verizon acknowledged the issue via its official account on X, stating that their engineers are actively working to resolve the situation. They expressed understanding of the inconvenience caused and emphasized their commitment to restoring reliable connectivity.
Additional outage reports have also surfaced for competitors AT&T and T-Mobile, but these numbers are significantly lower, with AT&T reaching just 1,769 reports. The discrepancy suggests that some users may be misattributing their network problems to their own providers while trying to reach Verizon customers.
Verizon's engineering teams are fully deployed and continue to address the disruptions, focusing on a swift resolution to the ongoing issues.
