The latest update of Home Assistant, version 2026.2, introduces a streamlined Quick search feature, enhancing user navigation significantly. Users can now access a unified search interface for commands, devices, and entities using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+K (or Cmd+K on macOS), which simplifies the process of locating items within the system.
Previously, navigating through various modes required multiple key inputs and switching between filters, which can be cumbersome. The new tool resolves this issue by displaying all relevant results in one window, facilitating quicker access to desired functions. Additionally, users can refine their searches by utilizing specific tabs such as "Navigate," "Entities," or "Devices," to limit the results to particular categories.
To expedite searches even further, hotkeys are available; for instance, pressing "e," "d," or "c" directly opens the Quick search with the entities, devices, or commands filter, respectively. These enhancements are designed to save users time and improve overall efficiency when interacting with the platform.
