The Voice feature in ChatGPT's Mac app will cease operations on January 15, 2026. OpenAI announced this change in its recent update, highlighting a shift towards enhanced voice experiences across its platforms.
Despite the discontinuation of Voice on macOS, users can still access this feature via chatgpt.com and on iOS, Android, and Windows applications. Other functionalities within the ChatGPT Mac app will remain unaffected.
This decision may disappoint current users of the Voice mode, but it is expected to be a temporary adjustment as OpenAI works on a more integrated approach to voice interactions. The current Mac implementation appears to be incompatible with the forthcoming updates.
