According to a recent report by KushoAI, the integration of artificial intelligence in software testing is becoming increasingly prevalent, with 68% of API test suites now generated through AI workflows. This advancement allows engineering teams to create runnable test suites in approximately four minutes, significantly streamlining the development process.
The report, titled “State of Agentic API Testing 2026,” analyzes data from 2,616 organizations, examining over 64,000 API test suites and more than 1.4 million AI-driven test executions. It highlights a shift toward testing entire backend workflows rather than isolated API endpoints, with a 63% increase in end-to-end API workflow testing adoption year-over-year.
CEO of KushoAI, Abhishek Saikia, noted that many failures are linked to integration issues, such as authentication errors and schema mismatches, which account for 34% and 22% of API failures, respectively. The report emphasizes that the frequent changes in APIs—41% experience undocumented schema changes within 30 days—pose ongoing operational challenges for organizations.
