Apple has introduced a new software update, iOS 26.5.1, specifically targeting users of the iPhone 17 family. This release comes just days before the highly anticipated WWDC 2026, where additional updates, including iOS 27, are expected to be unveiled. The update is now available for download via Settings under General and Software Update.
This version primarily addresses a charging issue affecting a limited number of users on the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 models, particularly when their batteries are nearly depleted. Earlier reports indicated that this problem was noted by a user in April. While Apple typically provides only a summary of changes, it is likely that other minor bugs are also addressed in this update.
Following the release of iOS 26.5 last month, which included features like RCS end-to-end encrypted messaging, this smaller update appears to be part of Apple's standard practice of rolling out fixes. Meanwhile, iOS 26.6 is currently undergoing beta testing as the company continues to refine the existing version before the fall launch.
