Apple has introduced the beta version of iOS 26.3 for iPhones, significantly enhancing interoperability with Android devices and supporting third-party smartwatches. This update, revealed on December 23, 2025, includes a feature designed to facilitate the transition from iPhone to Android, developed in collaboration with Google.
The “Transfer to Android” function allows users to wirelessly shift photos, messages, and applications to a new Android device by placing it next to their iPhone. However, sensitive data such as health information and locked notes will not be transferred. Both Apple and Google plan to expand the types of transferable data during the beta testing phase.
Additionally, a new Notification Forwarding feature has been added, enabling iPhone notifications to display on third-party wearables. This capability is currently available only within the European Union and will disable notifications on Apple Watch while active. These updates are part of Apple's compliance with upcoming Digital Markets Act regulations.
