The latest update to Google Drive, version 2.25.497.5, brings a complete redesign of the application for Android users following a server-side rollout. This update features a revamped container for the file list, which now has increased padding on both sides and rounded corners at the top, while the bottom remains squared.
As part of the redesign, the bottom and search app bars now share a background layer, and the indicators for My Drive and Computers have been narrowed in the Files view. This subtle yet significant change enhances the user interface, making it more organized.
Previously, the Material 3 Expressive redesign was implemented in stages, with some features reverting before this full rollout. The revisions also include updates to Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, which were finalized just before the holiday season.
Additionally, Google is enhancing its Drive services with AI capabilities, including automated agents through Workspace Studio and new features like Audio Overviews for PDFs.
