Google has announced a significant update for its chatbot, Gemini, which now enables users to generate various file types directly from prompts. This feature allows users to create documents by simply inputting requests, such as "create a budget," and downloading the output in formats like PDF, TXT, RTF, and CSV.
In addition to these formats, the update supports Microsoft Word and Excel files, as well as Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets. Notably, LaTeX, a system widely used in the scientific community for formatting documents, is also included, enhancing Gemini's utility for students and professionals in STEM fields. This functionality is particularly relevant as it provides an efficient way to generate diagrams and other complex formats.
The rollout is accessible to all users globally, including individual Workspace account holders. This update follows a trend in the AI sector, as competitors like Anthropic's Claude chatbot introduced similar features last September, demonstrating the growing emphasis on file export capabilities in AI tools.
