Duolingo will introduce its Explain My Answer feature to free users on iOS starting January 1, expanding access to a tool previously available only in the paid Duolingo Max subscription. This feature, which launched in 2023, provides personalized feedback on language learning errors by explaining grammatical rules and offering examples to enhance understanding.
Available for several languages, including Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, and Korean, the feature aims to help learners grasp the reasoning behind language rules rather than just memorizing them. When users answer a question, they will see an Explain My Answer button, which, when tapped, presents an explanation of the question’s components.
Duolingo plans to make this feature accessible on free Android plans in future updates. The introduction of this tool is expected to bolster confidence among learners by clarifying the complexities of language rules.
