Apple has announced the release of Xcode 26.5, which includes enhancements designed to improve agentic coding workflows. This update comes on the heels of a growing trend where AI tools are increasingly utilized in coding practices, with 60% of new code at Airbnb now generated by AI, as revealed during a recent earnings call.
Two key features introduced in Xcode 26.5 allow developers to queue messages in the coding assistant and enable agents to ask clarifying questions to enhance accuracy. These improvements help streamline the coding process by allowing multiple messages to be lined up without waiting for the assistant to complete a response, thus facilitating a more efficient workflow.
Additionally, the update includes new StoreKit Testing support, which enables developers to simulate Apple's monthly subscription model. This reflects Apple's ongoing commitment to integrate advanced technology into its development tools, further supporting the shift towards AI-driven coding capabilities.
