Google has officially announced the rollout of its Gemini in Chrome features for users of Chromebook Plus devices in the US. Initially introduced last year for desktop platforms, this AI integration allows users to access tools that enhance their browsing experience by summarizing content, generating emails, and facilitating voice conversations. The features are designed to assist both business and education users by streamlining workflows while ensuring data governance.
This rollout commenced on January 28, but users may experience delays, as the extended rollout could take several weeks to complete. Currently, access is limited to Chromebook Plus models, with no indication of when or if other Chromebook models will receive the update. Users with personal Google accounts can also utilize the Gemini app, which enhances the functionality of the Chrome browser.
Workspace administrators should be aware that the feature is enabled by default and will need to be manually disabled if not desired. This development marks a significant step for Google in expanding its AI capabilities across its platforms.
