Vedana Therapeutics, a startup based in Seattle, announced its launch on Wednesday after securing $46 million in funding to develop therapies aimed at preventing migraine attacks. The company’s innovative antibody treatments are designed to target migraine-related signaling pathways, allowing patients to potentially self-administer injections at home.
The leadership team at Vedana includes prominent figures such as Anurag Agarwal, co-founder and CEO, and Dr. Ernesto Aycardi, chief medical officer, both of whom have significant experience in the migraine treatment sector. Their focus is on creating therapies that address multiple biological pathways to effectively combat this complex disorder.
Despite the introduction of CGRP-targeting medications, about two-thirds of migraine sufferers continue to experience debilitating symptoms, including severe headaches and associated ailments. Vedana is advancing its lead drug candidate, a next-generation PACAP antibody, while also developing a second candidate that targets both PACAP and CGRP.
With a team of 14 employees, Vedana aims to redefine migraine therapy, leveraging the expertise of its leadership to tackle the diverse challenges faced by patients.
