After departing from Microsoft, Dan Lewis, the former CEO and co-founder of Convoy, is initiating a new venture focused on enhancing the efficiency of artificial intelligence models. This stealth startup aims to create a platform dubbed “the supply chain for intelligence” that will streamline the operation of AI technologies.
Lewis announced his new project this week, although he refrained from disclosing specific details, citing that it is still in the early stages. The startup, which he co-founded in May, will concentrate on the inference aspect of AI, optimizing how models are run to improve performance and reduce costs.
Previously, Lewis guided Convoy, a freight marketplace valued at nearly $4 billion, until its closure in 2023 due to a downturn in the trucking sector. Following this, he served as a technical advisor after Flexport's acquisition of Convoy's technology. He transitioned to Microsoft as a chief product officer focused on enterprise AI in February 2025 but left this spring to pursue his new endeavor.
In his LinkedIn profile, Lewis emphasizes the goal of making AI “efficient, abundant, and affordable,” reflecting his commitment to advancing technology in a practical manner.
