Talairis Law Group, a new Seattle-based firm, aims to disrupt traditional legal services by utilizing AI to reduce costs for startups. Founded by former attorneys Sam Shaddox and Matt Souza, the firm opens this week, addressing the high fees charged by conventional law firms for work that AI can perform more efficiently.
Shaddox and Souza, who have extensive legal backgrounds, recognized a significant gap in the market. While several AI-native law firms have emerged recently, focusing on specific legal areas like contract review and immigration, they aim to provide a more comprehensive range of services. “They’re all picking one lane,” Souza noted, emphasizing the need for an AI-powered firm that can assist with various legal issues as they arise.
The founders previously held prominent positions at Perkins Coie and in-house legal departments of tech companies, including Big Fish Games and Zillow. Their experiences led them to conclude that the legal billing model is outdated, prompting the establishment of Talairis. The firm is structured around a four-layer architecture that incorporates advanced AI solutions to streamline legal processes.
