At the University of Washington, the 2026 Alumni Impact Awards were presented to two distinguished alumni during the graduation celebration on June 12. David Dawson and Nodira Khoussainova received recognition for their innovative solutions addressing common challenges, including recycling difficulties and the need for focused workspaces.
Dawson, a 2006 graduate, has nearly 20 years of experience in startup environments, including as an early engineer at Zillow. He co-founded Ridwell in response to the challenges of recycling commonplace items, resulting in significant growth with the service surpassing 150,000 customers last year. His commitment to entrepreneurship is also evident in his latest venture, MarkOS, an AI tool designed to help businesses maintain compliance in their marketing efforts.
Khoussainova is recognized for her creation of Focused Space, aimed at improving productivity for individuals working remotely. The awards aim to inspire new graduates by highlighting the impactful contributions of alumni like Dawson and Khoussainova, underscoring the legacy of innovation fostered by the Allen School.
