The newly acquired New England Eagles Minor League Cricket team has been purchased by a group of five tech veterans from the Seattle area. This unexpected move comes as the owners seek to enhance pathways for local players to reach Team USA, despite the franchise being located 3,000 miles away in Boston.
Leading the ownership group is Anand Subbaraj, CEO of Zuper, alongside co-owners Vandana Thomas, Gaurav Seth, Satheesh Santhamurthi, and Manoj Naidu. Each brings significant experience from major companies including Microsoft and Capital One. While the terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed, the group is committed to developing cricket in the Pacific Northwest, where they have long been involved in coaching and youth programs.
With a goal of nurturing local talent, the owners emphasize the importance of bridging the gap to Major League Cricket, where Seattle already hosts a team, the Orcas. Their approach aims to treat the Eagles like a sports-tech startup, leveraging data to enhance performance and engagement.
