Alitheon, a technology company based in Bellevue, Washington, has successfully secured $8 million in funding to advance its innovative FeaturePrint technology. This solution provides digital traceability for a wide array of physical objects without relying on traditional identification methods like tags or labels.
The funding round, known as Series A1, was spearheaded by Emerald Technology Ventures with contributions from eBay Ventures. Since its inception in 2015, Alitheon has developed over 55 patents and established a diverse clientele that includes sectors such as aerospace and luxury goods.
FeaturePrint operates by analyzing the unique microscopic surface variations of objects using a standard camera, a process likened to "biometrics for things." This technology is utilized across various industries, including healthcare and automotive, aiming to enhance security and trust in the global economy, as emphasized by CEO Roei Ganzarski.
Additionally, Alitheon has secured $1.5 million in federal contracts, including projects with the Pentagon, and has been recognized by Time magazine as one of the best inventions of 2023.
