Blue Origin is preparing to launch its heavy-lift New Glenn rocket, designated as NG-4, with a mission to deploy 48 satellites into low Earth orbit for Amazon's Leo constellation. This upcoming launch will be the fourth for New Glenn and represents the first collaboration between Blue Origin and Amazon in satellite deployment, both founded by Jeff Bezos.
Following an investigation into a previous launch failure, the Federal Aviation Administration has authorized Blue Origin to return to flight operations after the company identified nine corrective measures to address the issues that led to the mishap. The previous incident involved a cryogenic leak that resulted in a thrust anomaly during flight.
Blue Origin's CEO, Dave Limp, who previously oversaw the Amazon Leo program, expressed pride in supporting the mission. The launch is expected to occur as soon as next week, marking a significant step for Amazon Leo, which aims to deploy over 1,600 satellites as part of its expansion plans.
