According to a recent survey by Match Group, which operates dating platforms such as Tinder and Hinge, a significant 47% of respondents aged 18 to 39 have negative perceptions of AI in romantic settings. The study highlights a clear reluctance among singles to engage with AI companion applications, with two-fifths of participants in this age group unwilling to date someone who uses such tools.
Furthermore, the survey revealed that over half (51%) of women aged 18 to 24 specifically reject the idea of dating individuals who utilize AI apps like Kindroid and Replika. While many singles are open to using AI for mundane tasks, they prefer to keep their romantic life free from AI involvement. Only 12% of singles reported using companion apps in the last three months, primarily for entertainment or roleplay rather than genuine connection.
In contrast, most individuals prefer seeking relationship advice from friends and family, with 60% opting for personal interactions over AI, which only 20% utilize. Experts, including relationship therapist Michael Salas, support this preference, emphasizing the importance of human interaction in dating.
